EST Achieves NEBS Level 3 Compliance

Energy Storage Technologies, Inc., the fastest growing company in battery and energy storage solutions in North America, today announced that its entire line of AGM and GEL VRLA batteries achieved Network Equipment Building System (NEBS) Level 3 compliance, the highest NEBS accreditation available. The entire line of High Rate UPS Batteries, Long Duration Telecom, CATV/Broadband, Deep Cycle AGM & GEL and the General Purpose lines were independently tested by National Technical Systems (NTS) of Boxborough, MA to Telcordia Technologies GR-63-CORE and GR-1089-CORE.

NEBS testing is a critical certification, required by telecommunications, utility and defense organizations that build and maintain the country's communication and critical power infrastructure. The primary goal of this certification is to ensure that critical infrastructure continues to operate during natural or man-made disasters, such as earthquakes, loss of critical cooling systems, or the failure of critical power systems during extended power outages.

EST Introduces New Front Access UPS High Rate Battery Line

Energy Storage Technologies, Inc. introduces the new High Rate Front Terminal (HR-F) battery family for single and multi-cabinet UPS applications. This front access, 12-volt battery offers up to 800 watts per cell at the 15 minute rate to 1.67VPC. Available in sizes ranging from 350 to 800 watts per cell, the EST High Rate Front Terminal Battery has set a new standard in energy density and foot print reduction compared to conventional top termination UPS batteries and other front terminal battery offerings. Specifically designed for large 3 phase UPS battery cabinet applications where floor space is a premium, EST has successfully installed the product providing 710kWB for 15 minutes to 1.67VPC in 200” of width of line-up and match cabinets with individual over-current protection, under voltage relays, auxiliary control and temperature sensing.

All EST Batteries use pure lead alloyed with tin, which gives the product higher corrosion resistance. These batteries feature an exclusive individual plate formation process to optimize cell voltage and performance providing dependability and long life. Each plate is hand inspected to ensure full formation. The HR-F utilizes space saving absorbed glass mat (AGM) construction to maximize performance. Along with a high power and space saving design, its front access terminals make it easier to install and perform routine maintenance checks.

EST Signs American Technical Support (ATS) to distribute products throughout the Southeast from their Deerfield Beach, FL facility

The staff of ATS brings a combined battery room experience of more than 50 years "hands-on" in Stationary Battery Removals, Installations, Preventive Maintenance, Testing and proper Disposal of Lead Acid Battery Technology. Procedures outlined by industry standards, manufacturers operating instructions and IEEE are always followed and exceeded which sets ATS above other similar companies. Services include periodic maintenance, new installation, removals, disposal, and testing, consulting, training root cause analysis and specification writings.

EST Introduces New Outdoor BBU for Telecom

The OTC262672 is a high capacity outdoor battery backup unit (BBU) supporting -48 Volt DC telecommunications applications that require battery backup housed within a single environmentally controlled enclosure. The solution uses Energy Storage Technologies OTC262672 or OTC262652 outdoor enclosures, which are equipped with a 19” 4-post rack for the installation of both EST and customer supplied equipment.

The system is powered by an EST PS8K 8000 watt rectifier system consisting of 4 rectifier modules and 1 control module. Input power of the system is 120/240VAC single phase, and provides nominal output of -54VDC and is adjustable from -44V to -58V. Maximum output current of the system is 148A. The output distribution consists of two battery LVBD breakers (up to 100A), 2 load breakers (up to 100A) and 12 output GMT fuses. The battery breakers are designed with On/Off contact alarm type and the output breakers are designed with TRIP contact alarm type. The capacity of the fuse for DC3~DC11 is 5A while DC 12 is 10A. The system has been designed to feed high level quality power to sensitive electronics. The system contains alarms and protection circuits, and is built with the alarm sending function. Communications are provided through the network TCP/IP, SNMP, Ethernet ports on the front an RS232 Debug on the rear.
